Bedside Crib and Travel Cot

Easy to put together

Bedside cribs are usually easy to put together, and are on the smaller side so they can be easily tucked away beside your bed. They also tend to be lighter, making them more mobile. Georgina, who was one of MFM's home testers, said that the Maxi-Cosi Lora was "super easy to assemble with clear instructions, and simple zips." Cosy and comfortable
You can keep an eye on your child from the in the comfort of your bed using the bedside crib. It's the ideal solution for a new mum recovering from a c-section as you can easily lift baby to your side for nappy or night feeds changes without having to get up. The most comfortable cribs have breathable mesh sides you can see your newborn through.
Some cribs lower the barrier completely, giving you the convenience of co-sleeping without the associated risks (check that your chosen model is compliant with the latest safety standards though). Some cribs allow you to lower the barrier, but raise it again after you lift the baby out. This is a good option for parents who are concerned about their child rolling off their mattress.

There's also an integrated reflux setting as well as an swivel that can be 360 degrees to allow you to move the crib according to the preferred position of your baby.
If you are looking for something smaller Tutti Bambini CoZee has oak legs and a range of fabric options that complement your decor. It's also incredibly easy to put together. Georgina who took part in the MFM test was in a position to put it together in a matter of minutes without needing to consult any instructions. It's also a great travel cot. It folds flat and can be easily stuffed into a bag.
The Next2me Magic, which was shortlisted for the Best Cot, Crib or Moses Basket at the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards, is also slightly larger than the average, but is still quite compact and easy to attach to your bed. Georgina found it easy to assemble too, although she did feel the zips could have been more clearly described on the instruction sheet.
Easy to clean
Look for cribs with mattress covers that can be washed in the machine when looking at bedside cribs or travel cots.
